To the markets we go
This post is a bit late considering my mom is already back in Singapore and these were the markets that ran in July. But hey! I got this post out anyway.
I've always loved the markets. Back in Singapore, most of our food shopping would be done in a wet market. The smells, the noise.. All so reminiscent of my childhood. We also had monthly night markets (Pasar Malams) in our neighbourhoods that sold everything from foam mattresses to icy poles.
So when I first moved to the Central Coast, all I wanted to know was when and where the markets were! We found ones not far from home every 4th Sunday of the month and we were off early that morning to explore.
The sun wasn't particularly in our favour that morning but the chill in the air only made the hot dutch pancakes taste better! Other than the food and fresh local produce, I am always in awe of people who dare to make their hobbies a reality. The older lady who sells hand sewn embroidery on little onesies for babies. The guy who makes his own soy candles. They all do what they love. It's so inspiring.
I'll be at those markets again every month, I can never get enough of that sort of community spirit!

Love your colorful market pictures. I especially like the beautiful precious baby wearing photo. That time goes so fast when they can be snug as a bug next to your heart.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, I love wearing Mason. Keeps us both warm! X
DeleteI love markets too - be it the ones in here in oz or the wet markets of Singapore and the pasar malam.
ReplyDeleteThey just have the hustle and bustle that a supermarket doesn't! x
