"A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2014."

Mason: Red nose, red cheeks. All indicative of the cold he has had for the last week...

Mason: We went up the coast with a few friends last week. Best thing we ever did. Mason had a fantastic time with our friends' two beautiful twin girls, I watched him play with them and wondered what he would be like as a sibling.

Lately, I've felt like my control over life is slipping.. Maybe it's the weather, I am not big on the rainy, grey and cold of autumn. Maybe it's my incessant ritual of putting a million things on my list and then getting upset that I never complete most of them. Maybe it's part of my body that fails me on a daily basis that angers me. Nevertheless, I feel like I may be heading towards a downward spiral of emotions. Watch out, husband.

Mason: Giggles while we played in the park. He turned 10 months this week.. Wow. Is it odd that I am struggling to wrap my head around it?

We've been a bit quiet around these parts. I broke my camera 2 weeks ago and I literally feel sick just thinking about it, but in addition to that we have had doctors appointments for Luke and myself, constant trips into the city and trying to fit in time at the gym. We are spending a few nights away this week and I'm looking forward to a carefree week spent with good friends.

7/52, 8/52 - the catch up

"A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2014."

Mason: 7/52 - With my brother.
8/52 - With his great grandmother.

How apt that both these photos include Mason in the arms of people who love him. I forgot, in all my self absorbed ways, that despite the difficulty of the last few weeks, my baby spent a huge chunk of that time with the people who love him most..

Mason: We went to Wollongong, then to Sydney this weekend. We found out that he loves being in big beds! He looks around at all the space next to him and gives us the biggest grin before throwing himself around!

Mason: Dipping his toes in the water with his grandmother.

We're baaaaack! I am so excited to be joining Jodi once again for the 52 project. In the last (almost) 7 months, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Mason grow through these weekly photos and cannot wait to see my collection at the end of 2014.

Mason: As Santa Claus.

If anyone asked me 6 months ago if I'd ever put my son into a Santa suit and make him sit in front of our tree while we all held our sides in taking photos of him, I'd have said 'HELL NO'.  But then if this year hasn't been a huge learning curve for me and my stubbornness, I don't know what is.

I took part in half of this year's 52 project but I am so excited for next year's. These captured moments are like magic. For all the things in life that go by so quickly, we've managed to stop time, to freeze it and hold on to it forever in the form of images. Aren't we lucky?
